Legal Limelight, a weekly feature, includes a Q&A with one of our attorneys or valued employees. Keep reading to learn all about this week’s guest, Catherine Aughey.
Q: How many years have you been with Tiveron Law?
A: I’ve been with Tiveron Law since October of 2014
Q: What is your area of practice?
A: I practice in the areas of Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Civil Litigation, and Matrimonial and Family Law.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: I received my Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Buffalo and then I went on to UB Law School.
Q: How many years did you spend getting your undergrad?
I graduated in three years. I’ve always wanted to go to law school, so I wanted to do it as quickly as possible and save money, too. Graduating early was the best avenue to becoming a lawyer as quickly as possible.
Q: Why did you become a lawyer?
A: I’ve always wanted to be an attorney ever since I can remember. Even during kindergarten, I remember asking my Dad, ‘What does a lawyer do?’ and ever since then, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I wouldn’t be happy doing anything else because I feel like an attorney is in a unique position to really help people and not everyone has the opportunity to help others on such a personal and involved level.
Q: Why did you choose to practice in Buffalo?
A: All of my family is from Grand Island so I want to be close to them. I wouldn’t even think of going anywhere else.
Q: What’s the one thing you want your clients to know about you?
A: I want my clients to know I genuinely care about them and what they’re going through. I can especially relate to certain Family Law clients from experiencing a divorce in my family. I have a different perspective and I can see the damage divorces may cause from the child’s perspective. I always try to put myself in my client’s position, too.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Buffalo?
A: One of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo is Left Bank because their ravioli is amazing. Panos is always a great place for lunch.
Q: What was your favorite concert?
A: Blink 182 at Darien Lake hands down. Or, Shania Twain because she puts on a great show, too.
Q: Which is your favorite movie?
A: My favorite movie is Apocalypto directed by Mel Gibson.
Q: What advice would you give a kid who wants to become at attorney?
A: Consistency is the most important thing. Keep your grades high and intern somewhere to ensure it’s something you truly want to pursue.
