Megan Poynter is an Associate Attorney at Tiveron Law, concentrating her practice in Estates and Elder Law, as well as Housing and Landlord-Tenant Law.

Ms. Poynter was admitted to the New York State Bar in January 2024, following two years of practice focused on Housing and Healthcare; upholding tenants’ & property owners’ rights. She also dedicated her time to working with Medicaid and Medicare recipients to challenge denials, appeal detrimental determinations, and navigate the post-COVID-19 landscapes for both Housing and Healthcare.

Previously, Ms. Poynter worked at a local full-service firm where she focused on civil litigation matters and negotiations. Here, she developed a passion for seeing client’s intentions become reality. This passion is what initially drew her to the Estates work at Tiveron Law, as she views the opportunity to help ease loved ones’ minds after a client’s passing, and to ensure that the mechanisms the client put into motion are moving long after they are gone, as one that brings her great joy and comfort.

At Tiveron Law, Ms. Poynter’s practice areas include Estates and Elder Law as well as Housing/Landlord-Tenant Law. She meets with clients to discuss the estate opening process, guides them through the steps the court requires in opening and closing the estate, and represents clients in court appearances related to the estate.

Ms. Poynter was a founding member of, and still actively supports, the First-Generation Law Students Association at the University at Buffalo School of Law after recognizing the need for community and support for future attorneys who are building their careers without a lot of guidance.
